Before booking intermediate kitesurfing lessons, take stock of what you’ve practised and where you still need help. KiteMood’s Intermediate course in Marsa Alam includes body dragging, water starts and self-rescue. These topics help you discuss your next lessons; they don’t set a fixed pace or promise the same result for everyone.
Describe your starting point clearly
For each skill, explain whether you’ve watched it, tried it with guidance or practised it enough to feel familiar with it. This tells your instructor more than simply calling yourself intermediate. Mention anything you’d like to go over again, even if you’ve covered it before.
Give body dragging a purpose
Ask what the exercise is intended to develop and how your instructor wants you to assess it. Understanding the aim helps you focus on your own practice, without assuming another learner’s experience will match yours.
After an exercise, describe what you noticed in plain language. If several parts felt confusing, ask which one to focus on first. This gives you a clearer next step than trying to change everything at once.
Look at water starts as a process
A water start can be a milestone, but it’s not the only way to judge a session. Ask which part of the process needs attention and what to focus on next. If the same difficulty keeps coming up, talk it through with your instructor. You don’t need to treat every attempt as a test of your ability.
Keep your longer-term aim in mind while focusing on the lesson in front of you. Wanting to ride is natural; understanding what you’re practising now helps you work towards it.
Practise self-rescue with your instructor
Self-rescue is included in the Intermediate course. Work through it with your instructor during your lessons, and ask questions about anything unclear. This article doesn’t explain an emergency procedure. Knowing the term doesn’t mean you’re ready to apply it independently.
Plan your next intermediate kitesurfing lessons
- Which topic did we focus on?
- What changed between my earlier and later attempts?
- What needs more supervised practice?
- What should we discuss before moving forward?
